What is Gastroenterology?
Gastroenterology is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving the digestive tract and liver.
This specialty includes the treatment of a wide range of problems, such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, swallowing disorders, heartburn, ulcers, colitis, hepatitis, jaundice, bleeding, and colon polyps.

Having a screening colonoscopy at age 50 (or before if you have a family history of colon cancer) will help in identifying and removing any pre-cancerous polyps you may have.
